The Itron Edge Gateway is a new and evolving product family for Itron, designed to be versatile, to support all of Itron’s lines of business and diverse use cases, including critical communications applications for Distribution Automation, Commercial & Industrial IoT, and Distributed Energy Management. The platform is designed to enable Itron, customer and partner applications and sensors to offer local data processing and low latency response to events and alarms, or route data to Itron back office systems…to drive customer value.
The LTE/PLTE first release is available now for our NAM customers, and features 5 cellular gateway hardware models…an entry level single radio, a mid tier single radio, a dual radio model for critical communications and hot failover with optional Bluetooth and WiFi, and a high power CBSD Outdoor model. All models are based on a single hardware platform that features an imx8 64bit quad core 1.6GHz processor with a commercially supported OpenWRT Linux operating system. And all models offer standard multi constellation GNSS position location, 1G RAM and 8G Flash, ethernet & serial data connections, and optional modem and antenna configurations to support Global LTE bands and MNOs, and NAM PLTE bands, including CBRS, higher power CBSD Cat A, CBSD Cat B, Anterix and FirstNet.
