Board Member - Manager | Smart Meter & Network Operations | Florida Power & Light

Matthew Snyder, with well over two decades of utility experience, currently serves as the Manager of Smart Meters & Network Operations at Florida Power & Light (FPL). His role involves overseeing the utility’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) operations, ensuring seamless communication between smart meters and FPL’s core business systems.

Before assuming this role, Matthew led Demand Response initiatives as the Manager of Demand Response and Manger of Field Meter Operations at FPL. His strategic acumen and operational expertise contributed to the ongoing success of one of the largest Demand Response programs in the country.

Prior to joining FPL, Matt spent a decade and a half at LG&E and Kentucky Utilities, where he held a leadership role in restoration and field operations. His hands-on experience in managing field crews, optimizing grid performance, and ensuring reliable power delivery prepared him for the challenges of the utility industry.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville’s JB Speed Scientific School. His areas of expertise encompass a wide range of vital facets including AMI, smart grid operations, Demand Response, Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems (DERMS), grid edge analytics, and storm restoration. Matt is also a passionate responder during extreme weather and hurricanes in Florida, often serving on the frontline to restore power to affected areas.
