WORKER SAFETY Case Study: Exelon's Journey to Energy-Based Observations, the Impact on Culture and Safety, and Where They're Headed Next (Invite Only)
View DetailsJoin Exelon's Mark Musser and explore their evolution toward an Energy-Based Safety approach and the lessons they learned along the way.
This session will examine how Exelon's rollout of Energy-Based Observations started as a tool to capture richer hazard data — but it became the catalyst for a broader shift in how field teams think about safety culture.
That shift is now shaping Exelon's next move: consolidating EBOs, JSBQA, and BBOs into a single field EHS interface, so crews work from one unified view instead of three disconnected tools. It's a case study in how a single workflow win, done right, can become the foundation for an entire platform rethink.
Speaker: Mark Musser, Exelon

WORKER SAFETY Panel: From Customer-Wide Impact to Two Customer Stories (Invite Only)
View DetailsEnergy-Based Observations and Smart Job Safety Briefings have moved from pilot programs to everyday field practice across the industry — but no two organizations got there the same way.
This session opens with a look at the collective impact so far: adoption, scale, and the high-level metrics behind the shift.
From there, two customers take the stage to share their own path — where they started, what they were trying to solve, how they rolled out EBOs and the JSB across their organizations, and what they'd tell others considering the same journey. Each brings a different starting point and a different focus, offering a grounded, practical look at what implementation actually looks like once the pilot phase ends.
The session will close with each customer sharing what they still need — open questions, gaps, and/or asks for the broader community — turning the conversation from a retrospective into a forward-looking dialogue about what comes next.
Speakers: Scott Stahl, PPL | Ryan Hoover, APS |Brad Jacobs, Itron

WORKER SAFETY Panel: Safety Leaders on the Future of Field Enablement Technology— What It Could Become, and the Risks Along the Way (Invite Only)
View DetailsField enablement technology has moved fast — from digital job briefings and energy-based observations to AI-assisted hazard recognition and unified safety platforms. But how far should it go, and what could go wrong if it goes too far, too fast?
In this panel, safety leaders from across the industry come together to discuss where field technology is headed next: predictive risk insights, consolidated EHS workflows, and AI-driven decision support at the point of work. They'll also confront the harder questions — where automation risks eroding field judgment, how much should be trusted to a model versus a worker's experience, and what guardrails are needed to make sure technology strengthens safety culture rather than quietly undermining it.
Expect a candid conversation on both the promise and the pitfalls: what's genuinely transformative, what's overhyped, and what safety leaders need to get right before the next wave of field technology arrives.
Speakers: Jason Manley, Georgia Power | Jerry Convery, National Grid | Ryan Hoover, APS | Brad Jacobs, Itron
