Itron Smart Meters Featured in NEMA Smart Grid Video Series

High Tech Facility, Premiere Engineering and Best Practices Showcased in Educational Film

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.—March 1, 2011—Itron Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that it participated inthe National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Vids for Grids: New Media for the New Energy Workforce program to help demonstrate smart grid equipment, explain electrical engineering concepts and portray exciting career opportunities in smart grid technology.

"We were thrilled to collaborate with NEMA on this important project," said Mike Higgins, general manager of operations in Oconee, South Carolina. "As the video exhibits, Itron's smart meters are an integral component of the smart grid, and we aim to employ the best and brightest people and practices to build the highest quality product for our utility customers."

NEMA, the association of electrical and medical imaging equipment manufacturers, recently launched the first few videos from its 12-video program. Its goal is to educate the public and engineering students about smart grid concepts. Through this program, NEMA is working with selected member manufacturers to highlight a variety of technologies that play a vital role in the smart grid.
