Achieving Predictable Performance by Combining Cellular QoS with Traffic Orchestration for AMI 2.0
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 2.0) brings together a growing set of use cases, including meter reading, firmware management, distributed intelligence (DI), and grid operations, each with different performance and service level expectations. Cellular networks and AMI 2.0 headends provide a rich set of Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic management capabilities that enable traffic differentiation and prioritization. These mechanisms form an important foundation for supporting AMI 2.0 communications at scale, and understanding how to apply them effectively is a key part of designing networks that deliver predictable behavior across diverse utility applications. This session presents an architectural view of how cellular QoS and application layer traffic orchestration can be used together to make efficient use of network resources while meeting the service level requirements of AMI 2.0 use cases
